Kendrick

As an artist, I am inspired by my subject matter's facial structure, self-expression/fashion, personality, and the gaze of their eyes. This portrait of Kendrick Lamar is done in acrylic markers and acrylic paint. Kendrick's facial structure caught my eye-I loved the way the light created a landscape on his face. I also noticed the gaze of his eyes, and the subtle smile that creates a small entry to what his personality may be. I was also inspired by the colors in Kendrick's face through the reference images I used, and wanted to see if I could capture them through the vibrant colors of my markers. After watching the incredible performance that contained so much symbolism, I was inspired to capture Kendrick Lamar's personality. I put on a Kendrick record and started painting!
